Kitchen Updates Round 1...

Clark laid down the new floor and hooked-up the new fridge on Friday afternoon. We already cleaned-up our old one and took it to Clark's Dad & Norma's. It's a good fridge, nothing was wrong with it, has an ice maker and dispenser that works and it is bigger than theirs, but I forgot to take pics first :( Of course, it was sitting in the dining room so, as far as positioning goes, it wouldn't have really mattered anyway.
The note says, "Baby, Happy 28th Birthday! I Love You and I Love this Fridge, but not as much as I Love YOU!" Hehehe...
Then today, he and Marshall installed the new microhood...As you can see, we have not installed the new range yet. The reason being is because we purchased a slide-in range instead of a free-standing one. A slide-in range has to have the countertops for support, including a ledge in the back of the appliance, so of course, we have to get our countertops in first. By the way, that is our next purchase & of course the sink to go with them. We will probably have them installed since the range requires so much more work & intricacy.
This of course is our old one, and we are giving it to Kaylee, because she just found out she got herself a new apartment for this fall! Yeah K.K.!

Happy 28th B-Day Daddy!

Yesterday was Clark's 28th Birthday! Even though he had to work that morning, we had a very together and he told Izzy and I he had a wonderful day! While he was working, Izzy and I ran to Wal-Mart for a few groceries and one of his gifts and then to GameStop for the other gift. Izzy got Daddy a game for his XBox 360 and I got him a new electric trimmer primarily for his beard and mustache. His broke just last week, so convenient, because I had NO idea what I was going to get for him! It's a really nice new Wahl Lithium Ion and it does EVERYTHING...beard, mustache, has interchangeable head to be an electric razor, and has the different lengths-so he can do his hair, sideburns, etc. (if he wants to). Also, he didn't want a cake or pie this year, he wanted sugar cookies, so Izzy and I made him plain sugar cookies with blue sprinkles and blue icing (Izzy's choice-a very good one, might I add). After opening his gifts, we went down to his Dad's and Norma's, for wienie roast. His Grandma, Uncle Dwayne and Cousin E.J. where in town for the weekend and then his Cousin Shawn drove in from Durham. His Dad & Norma had a really nice coconut/pineapple cake made for his birthday too. Trinnie came over Friday night and got a really funny Bart Simpson card for Clarky and gave him some money and my Mom dropped by Saturday with a card & money as well. I was going to make Chicken Divine for him today (it's his favorite thing that I make), but he and Marshall put up our new microhood, so I told him I would make it tomorrow. I'm so glad he had a very happy birthday...he really deserved it!

Kitchen Concepts Take 2...

So these are the appliances that were actually purchased...as you can see we went with a higher-end microhood and a very high-end slide-in stove. We still got them for less than $2000, tax and all. We are very, very happy with our choices! Again, we got them during friends and family night, so we got 25% off all of them and we started thinking what good are granite countertops and tile backsplashes if you have mediocre appliances? So since we went high-end on the appliances...we had to back-off a bit in other areas.
We are still going to paint the cabinets bisque to match the appliances with an antique glaze and add rope molding to the doors to add depth. The countertops are Wilsonart Premium Laminate color called Polish Mosaic in a high gloss finish, we matched it to the granite Uba Tuba color when we were in Lowes last weekend. Instead of tile we will probably go with these copper colored backsplash sheets. We are still planning on the same hardware, which we found on ebay and the faucet is from Overstock. The sink is shown in white, but we of course would get it in bisque from Lowes or Home Depot. Actually, we had not even considered granite countertops until we saw the deal at Lowes, which is still a really great one, but now we just don't have it. I did really want a pretty tile backsplash, but didn't know what color we would do with the countertops, but seeing all three together...I REALLY like the copper sheets. I may even like them better then the tile and Clark really likes it too. Actually, he likes the green cabinets & taupe countertops (really I do too), but I feel like we will get more out of the bisque (it won't go out of style as quickly-it's a timeless, traditional style). Hopefully, soon I will have before and after pics...but at the rate the state is going with their refunds...it won't be as soon as I would like I'm sure :(

Kitchen Concepts...

So this is what we're thinking...

Our Kenmore Bisque appliances with...

I can't even believe I'm thinking this, but bisque cabinets with an antique glaze finish, uba tuba (don't you love the name?) granite countertops (only $39/sq ft at Lowes-this includes installation!) and a tile backsplash. We are thinking something of color in 4x4 tiles above & below a strip of subway tiles like those above.
Or moss green cabinets with an antique glaze finish, laminate or Corian countertops (we like the colors above), and a tile backsplash like the one above.

For either option that we choose we are thinking the bronze bar pulls for the doors and cup pulls for the drawers. We also want a bronze faucet like the one above. Right now we are in budgeting & decision mode! We'll let you know what we decide :) and have before & after pics!

Hoping St. Patrick's Day Brings Us Better Luck...

During the last couple of months we've not had the best run of luck! Izzy started out the year sick, next Clark's work & my work decisions/drama, then we had some relationship disagreements (of course over money), last week Izzy became sick yet again-ear infections in both ears, the same day we discover our brand-new dishwasher had leaked & ruined most of our laminate hardwood flooring, then we had to find our five year-old floors and now, Clark was fixing a machine at work with an Allen wrench, it broke off (making the tool like a knife) and sliced open his arm, 10 stitches and a pint & half of blood lost later;
he's on the way to feeling better!

Clark, Izzy & Mar Mar fixing the dishwasher! Still pretty cute considering the circumstances!
The 1st layer of gorgeous linoleum flooring underneath!
Ohhhhh....aaaahhhhh....it's so beautiful I almost considered keeping it, but Clark wasn't a fan!
